City Creek Center is an upper-class shopping center located near Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. City Creek officially opened to the general public in March 2012, and was built by the Corporation of the President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and Taubman Centers, Inc. This extraordinary shopping center is built on approximately 20 acres (including offices and residential buildings), and has been estimated to cost around $1.5 billion. In 2012, City Creek Center was named the “Best Retail Development, USA” in the International Property Awards for North America. Although there are other shopping centers in Salt Lake City, such as The Gateway, none of the alternatives offer the variety of retail options that City Creek mall does. In fact, some of the most important stores in The Gateway have decided to move to the bigger and newer mall for good. Apple, the busiest retailer at The Gateway, announced at the beginning 2012 that it would be moving to City Creek by the end of that year. Anthropologie and Forever 21 are other retailers that have decided to move permanently to City Creek.
This fairly new mall in Salt Lake counts with two department stores: a two-level Nordstrom store and a three-level Macy’s store. Additionally, City Creek has over 80 retail stores, many of them big brand names such as Rolex, Tiffany & Co., Steve Madden, Forever 21, and H&M. The shopping options are infinite, from high-end to lower-end options, shoes, makeup, clothes, home décor, electronics, and even groceries, which you can find at Harmon’s, located at the corner of 100 South and 200 East streets.

The City Creek mall food court is located at the west side of the mall, some food establishments you can find there are Red Iguana, bocata, Mr. Sushi, Sbarro’s, and McCafe (McDonald’s). But of course, it would not be a world-class experience without some authentic cuisine options. BRIO Tuscan Grille, an Italian food restaurant, is located next to The Gym, on 1st South, between State and Main streets. You can also find the famous Brazilian steakhouse, Texas de Brazil Churrascaria, in the first level on the west side of Main Street. Other delicious options include Cheesecake Factory, Blue Lemon, and Kneaders, all within a one-mile ratio.
Events and Activities
Besides being a shopping and dining destination, you can also find many fun activities to do in City Creek for both, adults and kids. The Gym at City Creek is located at the top floor of the mall and it offers a variety of fitness classes, and training equipment for all the fitness enthusiasts out there. As a visitor you can receive a free-day pass to The Gym at City Creek. If you are not about exercising indoors, retailers albion and ATHLETA offer fun and free outdoor fitness classes such as yoga, and dancing classes. Microsoft offers free activities by teaching kids how to develop their own games and apps. The center also offers architecture tours of City Creek Center, and you can even have the opportunity to feed the infamous fish at the trout pound.
