Bonneville Shoreline: A Brief History

About 15,500 years ago, much of Utah was covered by a body of water known as Lake Bonneville.  The Great Salt Lake is one of the remaining factors from this ancient great lake.  Lake Bonneville left behind the Bonneville Shelf, or Bonnevile Bench, in the Wasatch Mountain Range for us to enjoy via hikingtrail runningmountain biking.

The Bonneville Shoreline Trail used to be the eastern shoreline of Lake Bonneville.  The trail also runs on top of the Wasatch Fault, which is still active.  Many people also use this history-rich trail for a nice bike ride.  The Bonneville Shoreline Trail is currently around 100 miles of trail, with hope that in the future the trail will span from Idaho to Nephi, Utah.  The leisure that nature has provided us with is too beautiful to pass up.
