Utah’s Hogle Zoo
Salt Lake City is home to Utah’s Hogle Zoo, an attraction that anyone visiting Utah should come and enjoy. The Hogle Zoo was established back in 1931, and has been fun for all ages to enjoy ever since. It hosts over 800 animals and spans across 42 acres of land. The zoo can be found at 2600 Sunnyside Ave S, just at the base of the beautiful Emigration Canyon, so it is a great destination to visit just outside of downtown Salt Lake.
Utah’s Hogle Zoo hosts all kinds of different animals, so there is a ton of variety. It has mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects, and even spiders. Whether it’s looking at the monkey exhibit, or admiring the endangered animals like the African elephant or the grey wolf, there is absolutely something for everyone here. To make things even better, the zoo is always improving by creating new, state of the art enclosures for their animals. They have recently made interesting exhibits like the African Savanna and the Asian Highlands. The African Savanna features zebras, giraffes, ostriches, and lions in an expansive and themed area. The Asian Highlands host amazing big cats like the Siberian tiger, snow leopard, the Amur leopard, and others. This Utah zoo has all the wildlife one could hope to see, and more.
One of the biggest attractions at the zoo is the World of Flight Bird Show, where trained birds and their professional counterparts display the incredible athleticism by different species of birds. After the show, visitors can get up close and personal with some of the birds and talk with their trainers. The show features eagles, hawks, falcons, owls, and parrots throughout the 25 minute presentation. This is a great place to unwind and learn something educational while in Salt Lake.
Hogle Zoo Hours
While touring the city, one might think that there’s no time to stop at the zoo. However, the Hogle Zoo hours are perfect for experiencing Salt Lake. They open at 9 AM and close at 6 PM seven days a week, meaning that a tourist can spend all day at the zoo if they wanted, while still able to go downtown in the evening for a nice dinner. Going to the zoo in Salt Lake City is a perfect way to spend the day while in town, especially because a visitor can stay for as short or as long as they like.
Hogle Zoo Prices
Another great thing about Utah’s Hogle Zoo is the affordability. The Hogle Zoo prices are just $16.95 for adults, $12.95 for children, and children 2 and under get in free. This alone is reason why the Hogle Zoo should be considered when looking for things to do in Salt Lake City, but they have even more to offer. The Utah Hogle Zoo also has food courts and gift shops. The food courts allow for some refreshment during a long, hot Utah summer day while the gift shops offer a wide variety of merchandise to remember the day at the zoo. They sell toys, stuffed animals, books, all kinds of goodies to find just the right Salt Lake City souvenir.
The Hogle Zoo
When someone asks what to do in Salt Lake City, Utah’s Hogle Zoo always jumps to mind. Since the zoo is a fun attraction for all ages, a relaxing place to spend the day, and super affordable, I can’t recommend it enough. It is also helped that the zoo is in such a convenient location, just across the street from This is the Place Heritage Park, at the base of Emigration Canyon, and minutes from downtown. So planning a trip to the zoo is easy. If you are a true animal lover, visiting the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium in downtown Salt Lake may be a good idea after visiting Utah’s Hogle Zoo.
