Hop Off & Explore City Creek Center
Next tour stop on your hop-on hop-off adventure with US Bus through town: City Creek Center, a recent must-see addition to everyone’s list of things to do in Salt Lake City. Situated in the heart of downtown, directly adjacent to the iconic Salt Lake Temple, City Creek is among the newest and most popular shopping centers the downtown area has to offer.
“This unique shopping environment features a retractable glass roof, a creek that runs through the property, a pedestrian skybridge and more. This world-class fashion and dining destination offers over 100 stores and restaurants including Nordstrom, Macy’s, Tiffany & Co., Michael Kors, Coach, and Texas de Brazil Churrascaria, in a casual, pedestrian-friendly environment.”

The LDS Church-owned shopping center, which marked its fifth anniversary earlier in 2017, combines a robust assortment of quality shopping destinations with a picturesque, open-air environment, compete with a glass skyway for foot traffic, indoor greenery, and landscaping. The designs drew inspiration from Salt Lake’s original “City Creek”; the result is a peaceful waterway that cuts more than half a mile across the mall like a scenic mountain stream. You’ll find plenty to do here, whether its a continuation of your Salt Lake shopping tour, grabbing a bite to eat at one of the mall’s many restaurants, enjoying the refreshingly clean environs, or just people-watching along the side of the creek.
Stay awhile! Among the restaurants featured in City Creek dining options you’ll find favorites like Texas de Brazil, a churrascaria located just inside the mall. Inside a Brazilian steakhouse like this one, you’ll discover a unique dining experience complete with an all-you-can eat parade of sword-skewered meats, grilled pineapple, replete salad bars, and specialty drinks. Churrascarias are a staple of special occasion dining in Salt Lake City, and your trip won’t be complete without a visit to one. Make your dinner reservation here, and save a table for yourself before you even get on the US Bus. The dining selection at City Creek Center don’t stop there, however. Alongside Texas de Brazil, you’ll find things like the famous cheese steaks of Great Steak & Potato Company, a taste of Tuscan cuisine at BRIO, cozy bakery ambiance at Kneader’s Cafe, and the fast-and-casual Blue Lemon. Familiar national names like the Cheesecake Factory, and the casual food court options like Chick-Fil-A are always a safe bet, as well.
The Next Stop on Your Shopping Tour
If a shopping tour of Salt Lake City is what you’re really here for, then City Creek Center is definitely the perfect tour stop to take a break from the bus. After you’ve eaten, start your excursion at the Macy’s Department Store located inside the mall. If that doesn’t scratch the itch, City Creek boasts a selection of more than 100 stores to choose from, providing you with plenty of ways to fill up that extra space in your suitcases.
When it comes time to head back to your hotel, you’ll find a UTA TRAX stop located right outside, just under the skyway. Keep in mind that the mall is closed on Sundays, so be sure to plan your visit accordingly.
